Beer waste packaging material

Mi Terro is the world's first synthetic biology and advanced material company that utilizes big data to create home compostable, single-use plastic-alternative packaging materials made from plant-based agricultural waste – this is a first-of-its-kind approach. We are excited to see such a significant leap forward in our ability to manipulate nature’s most diverse and abundant building blocks.

As an additionl suggestion, I'd be careful about some of the claims that aren't yet proven about the material, e.g., potentially edible, potentially recyclable, or about other possible income streams, e.g., AI platform for other companies, or that are too general, e.g. solution for people all over the world, drink more beer to save the world. Finally, I have a question - have you received feedback from clients about the transparency of the plastic Mi Terro makes versus of traditional oil-based plastic? I know that this can be an issue sometimes with other organic-based plastics so I was wondering how Mi Terro is managing this. Thank you and congratulations again.

Hi Hans, thanks for the comment. Our film isn't as transparent as oil-based plastic, but it meets our client's requirements. We will continue to improve the transparency of our material. It's normal that people would express doubt when it comes to new technology. Most people nowadays have been accustomed to the convenience of single-use and throw away, changing people's habits is the most difficult challenge to achieve. When we speak of recyclable, we are encouraging ordinary consumers to reuse the same material multiple times until it cannot be used anymore. When the time comes for the material to retire, we want it to have a negative impact on our environment. Thus, the best solution is to compost/biodegrade.

Great idea and congratulations on the progress thus far. My comment for improvement is on the messaging about what the company does. The focus should be on the new material made from milk waste and other agricultural/food waste that replaces oil-based plastics, the fact that Mi Terro material is cheaper, and the technical characteristics and uses for Mi Terro material. What should be reduced in the messaging are references of resolving issues of plastic waste and single-used plastics as it could be perceived as greenwashing. This because products made with Mi Terro material could end up not being composted and in landfills, and also products made with Mi Terro material could not be reused and thus also become a single-used plastic (product). Resolving these larger issues would require a different business model to have more control on the end-of-life of products using Mi Terro material, which isn't the focus of the company (e.g. home composting units or composting/recycling facilities)
